Bio
Ken
is a Native Californian raised on FM radio. He started his
journey in music at age of seven, singing in his first school
choir. It wasn't until the age of ten that he begged his parents
for a drum set. Through his teenage years he put on the headphones
and played along with: Toto, Todd Rundgren, Genesis, Squeeze,
Queen, and the Police. If it had tight harmonies and great
hooks he was mesmerized. High school brought him to musicals
and a taste for performance.
Ken
spent the next few years drumming and singing in shows. It
wasn't until his twenties that he decided to write music.
Many of those first songs were piano ballads, where Ken developed
a good sense of melody. In Ken's mid twenties he bought his
first guitar. From then on, the energy presented itself. His
songwriting became more vibrant and unique. Progressive music
and pop were big influences so it's no surprise that Ken's
songs show signs of rich chord inversions. At this time Ken
began to experiment with home recording. This allowed him
to use his voice in vocal tracking and harmonies. The song
lyrics also began to represent the positive experiences happening
to him in his life.
This
brings us to the present where Ken has been writing, recording
and performing music in and around the Bay Area. By day, he
is a Special Education Teacher, a profession that has enriched
his songwriting. At night, Ken records and performs the art
that gives him a creative voice.
